Located in the heart of historic Lower Town Harpers Ferry, the Harpers Ferry Park Association (HFPA) is the 501 (c) 3 non-profit partner of Harpers Ferry National Historical Park. HFPA operates the Park Bookshop, publishes books, conducts workshops, and raises funds through grants, membership, and other programs. We partner with other organizations to realize the highest quality interpretive support possible for our national park.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated Sales & Visitor Experience Specialist to join our growing team. The ideal candidate has a friendly demeanor, a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and a history of working in a high volume setting. Successful candidates will work directly with customers, answering questions regarding our services and park and town information, and assisting with the sales process. Perfect for history buffs, national park geeks, and/or book lovers!

Job Type: Part-Time

Pay: From $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24 – 35 per week

Compensation Package: Bonus Opportunities, Holiday Pay, Overtime Pay

Schedule: Day Shift, Every Weekend, No Nights

Note: This position is for up to five days per week, with a priority placed on Thursday through Monday. Applicants must be able to work Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Non-negotiable.

Responsibilities

• Interact with customers in a professional and friendly manner while maintaining good relations.
• Maintain store appearance, design displays and signage. (includes dusting and sweeping)
• Order, receive, stock, and restock inventory. 
• Inform visitors of park and historical information in an accurate and concise manner.
• Operate Point-of-Sale system and conduct daily opening and closing procedures.

Qualifications

Applicant must be able to: 

• Stand for extended periods of time.
• Climb 2 flights of stairs without issue.
• Lift up to 30 lbs without issue.
• Work independently while staying on task.
• Be comfortable speaking to members of the public for extended periods of time.
• Speak loudly and clearly to all visitors.
